LocalMicroBusines supports UK businesses with 10 or less people (including owners and directors).
What sort of business are you?
- You’re an independent, UK-based business with your own product or service or independent retail operation.
- You sell to or service to private individuals and families.
- You have devised or created your own product or service.
- You’re creating, making, producing and servicing primarily here in the UK.
- You’re trading from home, physical premises or your own website.
- You have 10 or less people involved in your business, including owners, directors, employees, workers and contractors.
- If you have employees, you’re paying fair wages for fair working hours in fair working conditions.
- If you’re importing, whatever you are importing is on a fair-trade basis and abides by the modern slavery act as a bare minimum. (If you’re doing more than the bare minimum – even better!)
- Your annual turnover is less than £632,000
- Your assets (or balance sheet) is less than £316,000
- Your business is registered in the UK, in the case of companies.
- You’re paying your taxes here in the UK (either as a sole-trader, partnership or company).
What you’re not:
- You aren’t solely or primarily in a business-to-business market.
- You’re not operating an MLM, party-plan, franchise, as an agent or representative, or under a restrictive licence or similar.
- You’re not outsourcing your production or labour offshore or outside the UK.
- It goes without saying that you are not using slave labour, forced labour, child labour or similar either directly in your business or elsewhere in your supply chain.
- Your business is not repatriating your profit to an off-shore tax-haven to avoid paying UK tax.
